2017 annual flying stars forecast

Well, this is about the right time that I will now present the 2107 annual flying stars’ forecast for the faithful followers of my blog site as requested by my many faithful followers/readers of my blog site:

[陽宅三要: , , ]

One important concept that I want to reiterate is that in feng shui, there are three (3) important area in the house, namely the (a) the entrance sector which will affect the wellbeing, fortune of the household; (2) the bedroom where we will spend 1/3 of our time and lastly (3) the kitchen, where we will cook the food and therefore it will affect the health of the family.

As a matter of fact, from my many years of professional experience, I will also add the home office or study as the important area of the house; as this will also affect our working/studying environment and our career and scholar success. Therefore, it is important for every house to apply feng shui enhancement/cure at the above areas before Feb 3, 2017. I will list below some auspicious days to place the cure for my readers’ easy reference:

Jan 18, 2017 (not suitable for people born in the year of the pig) - 5 - 7 am, 7 - 9 am
Jan 21, 2017 (not suitable for people born in the year of the tiger) - 7 - 11 am, 3 - 5 pm
Jan 22, 2017 (not suitable for people born in the year of the rabbit) - 9 am - 1 pm, 3 - 5 pm

Here I want to stress the importance of placing feng shui on an auspicious day in order to be effective. Unfortunately, this final important step of applying feng shui cure is always not mentioned or consider in many feng shui web pages and books from the so-called “masters”!

(In for whatever reason that the reader has problems in this matter, I will provide a free service of choosing the auspicious day to apply feng shui cure for the readers of this blog site. They can email me direct for assistance).

For those who are new or not familiar with this powerful discipline of feng shui, listed below is a brief introduction to the characteristics of the nine (9) stars. For those who are interested to know more about this topic, they can read the article in my blog site:

Under the Xuan Kong Flying Star feng shui, there are many factors which will determine whether the feng shui is good or bad in the house, for example, the natal chart (chi pattern) based on its main entrance facing direction, the construction year and what flying stars (timely or untimely) are located in each sector of the house. Among them, the annual flying stars’ location will change every year; that is to say, the auspicious sectors of the current year in the house may become the inauspicious sectors in the coming year.

Characteristics of the Nine Stars:

Number One Star (一白水星) – this star is considered as the peach blossom star (桃花星) which will affect marriage and romance luck, its element is water.

Number Two Star (二黑土星) – this star is associated with all illness, especially gynecology and gastroenteritis diseases, its element is earth.

Number Three Star (三碧木星)this star will bring lawsuits, conflicts, its element is wood.

Number Four Star (四綠木星)this star is associated with scholar luck, career and fame, its element is wood.

Number Five Star (五黃土星) – this is considered the most vicious and inauspicious star who will bring serious health issues (cancer), accidents or even death, its element is earth.

Number Six Star (六白金星) – this star is associated with moving/changing, military career, and money luck, its element is metal.

Number Seven Star (七赤金星)this star will bring destruction, loss of fortune, car accidents, robbery, its element is metal.

Number Eight Star (八白土星)this is referred as the timely star or the most auspicious star in Period Eight (2004-2023) which will bring money luck and promotion, its element is earth.

Number Nine Star (九紫火星)this star is associated with marriage, fertility luck and celebrated events, its element is fire.

2017 annual flying stars’ forecast (2017 流年飛星圖及風水布局)

East sector – Number Eight Star

In 2107, the annual auspicious number eight (8) flying star is located at the East sector. Since the East sector is associated with the eldest son in the family, this means that he will enjoy a good year in 2017.

Since this is the most auspicious star in Period Eight, it is vital that we will apply feng shui enhancement in the East sector of the house especially if this is the entrance area. Since its element is earth, therefore we can apply fire and earth element objects/colors in this sector to enhance the money luck in 2017. Furthermore. It is also favorable to have “activities” or movements at this sector to activate this auspicious star, like placing an aquarium or fountain at this area.

My personal recommendation is to place a red light (must be on 24/7) in the East sector of the house in 2017. Another good alternative is to place 8 round stone pebbles in a round bowl. One important thing to keep in mind is that the East area of the house is clean, free of clutters and avoid too many plants in this area because wood element will destroy earth element.

North sector – Number Six Star

In 2107, the annual number six (6) flying star is located at the North sector. This star will bring money luck and it is also beneficial to those people working in the technical, labors or frequent traveling field. Since its element is metal, it is good to use earth element objects or colors in the North sector of the house to enhance this star. My recommendations are expensive ceramics, precious stones (in eight total numbers)

On the other hand, it is not auspicious to have too many fire element colors (red or orange) and objects, or lighting incense at this sector because the fire will destroy metal.

Center palace – Number One Star

In 2017, the annual number one (1) flying star is located at the Center of the house. Under the Xuan Kong  Flying Star feng shui, the star is associated with the investment luck; therefore it is important for those have money investment like stocks to enhance this star. Since this is also considered as the “peach blossom star”, it is also necessary for those who are looking for romance luck to apply feng shui enhancement at the center of the house.

My suggestions are to place some water plants, bright colors flowers or a dark color stone in a round container filled with water at the center of the house in 2017.

One thing I want to add is some people who are already falling in love and afraid that too much inferior “peach blossom” luck will affect the relationship; instead of enhancing this star, they can place 8 stone pebbles in a round container at the center to reduce the energy of the number one (1) water star.

Lastly, since the number one (1) star is also considered a "peach blossom" star (桃花星) and it is located in the center palace, I will predict that very likely the leader of a country will face some sex scandal which leads to resignation or impeachment in 2017!

NW sector – Number Two Star

In 2017, the annual number two (2) flying earth star is located at the NW sector. This star will bring serious health issues especially gynecology and gastroenteritis diseases especially in the month of September. Therefore, tt is important not to have too many fire element colors or objects in this sector; it is also not auspicious to have aquarium or water plants in this area. Furthermore, avoid major construction work in the NW sector, if it can not be avoided, it is vital to choose an auspicious day and time to do it.

In feng shui, the NW sector represents the male household in the family or male leaders; therefore, I will predict that it is most likely some of the world male leaders of a country may suffer from serious health issues in 2017. Since this is only a feng shui blog site, I will not name the specific leader of a country here; and leave it to the readers to figure out themselves!

Therefore, I will strongly recommend that appropriate feng shui cure must be applied at the NW area of the house in 2017 especially if the main entrance is facing this direction. The most effective cure is to hang 8 old Chinese coins or metal element objects to dissipate the illness chi of the number two (2) earth star. Lastly, be certain that this area is clean, debris free and well lighted.

SW sector – Number Seven Star

In 2107, the annual number seven (7) metal star is located at the SW sector. This star will cause loss of fortune, theft or robbery, serious accidents (especially car accidents) and arguments. In feng shui, the SW sector is associated with the female household in the family, thus, the mother or the female leader of any organization or country will be affected by this untimely flying star; most likely accidents especailly car accident. Also, if your entrance is facing SW, you will most likely be experiencing some misfortune, accidents or theft in 2017.

The first thing to keep in mind is to prevent major activities in this area in 2017, in order not to activate the sha chi of the number seven (7) metal star, thus objects that are causing movement like water fountains shall not be placed in this sector.

My recommendation is to place one dark colored pebble in a round container fill with water in the SW sector of the house and at the SW corner of the bedroom, because water will dissipate metal. It is important to make certain that the water is always full and clean.

SE Sector – Number Nine Star

In 2017, the annual number nine (9) fire star is located at the SE sector. This star will bring romance, noble man (貴人) and baby conceiving luck (refer to my article regarding this topic: http://netgent1-creativelife.blogspot.ca/search/label/Baby%20Conceive%20Feng%20Shui

If you want to enhance your marriage and good relationship with other people in 2017, you shall apply feng shui enhancements at the SE area of the house.

Since wood will enhance fire, it is auspicious to have broad leaf or food plant at this area; in addition, placing fire element colors (purple, pink or red) objects are also good feng shui enhancement idea; and try to avoid too much black, blue or gray colors at this area. If you want to enhance the romance luck, placing 9 red flowers (roses) at the SE corner of the bedroom is also a good idea.

South Sector – Number Five Star

If the readers have been following my previous annual flying stars’ forecast, they will notice that I always stress the importance of applying feng shui cure to counteract the sha chi of the vicious number five (5) earth star. Under the Xuan Kong Flying Star feng shui, the number five earth star is referred as the most vicious star (except in Period Five); because it will bring serious misfortune, health problems like cancer or even death to the household!

In 2017, the annual number five (5) earth star is located at the South sector. Therefore, I will strongly recommend that feng shui cure must be applied in the South sector of every house in 2017, especially its earth energy will further enhance by the fire element of the South sector.

The first thing to keep in mind is to avoid major renovation or construction work, spending a lot of time sitting or sleeping at the South sector in 2017. If it cannot be avoided for whatever reason, make sure that you choose an auspicious day and time to start the construction; and make certain that the appropriate feng shui cure at this area are in placed to prevent bad luck and serious health issues in 2017.

From my many years of professional experience, hanging six (6) old Chinese coins, a metal clock or wind chime at this area are some of the most effective feng shui cure for the number five (5) earth star, because metal will dissipate earth. Furthermore, it is important that this area is clean and free of clutter and well lighted.

NE Sector – Number Four Star

In 2017, the annual number four (4) wood star is located at the NE sector. This star will bring scholar luck and clear mind. As the NE sector is associated with the youngest son in the family, it is most likely that they will be much more focus in school and obedient in the coming year.

In feng shui, very often we will use four (4) bamboo plants to enhance the number four (4) wood star. Therefore, if you are a student or someone who are engaged in culture or artistic profession, it is auspicious to have the sitting or working desk facing the NE direction. As for the parents, I will recommend placing four (4) lucky bamboo plants in water at the NE area of the house and also one at the NE corner of the kid’s bedroom; using a 7 story pagoda is also a good alternative in this specific application.

West Sector – Number Three Star

In 2017, the annual number three (3) wood star is located at the West sector and in addition, the 2017 grand duke star (太歲) is also located at this sector.

This star will bring arguments, court case and conflicts in the family. Since its element is wood, it is not auspicious to have too much wood and water element at this sector, for example, green plants especially in three (3) number and fish tank. In general, we can use fire element objects or colors to dissipate the energy of the number three (3) wood star. The most effective feng shui cure that I used in my own house and my clients’ houses is to use a red light (lamp) which is on 24/7.

To conclude, I will take this opportunity to wish all my readers and their loved one a Healthy, Prosperous and Safe 2017, the year of the Rooster!

The importance of luan tao 巒頭 in authentic Chinese feng shui

In feng shui, there are two important factors to consider together when we are analyzing the feng shui of a habitable space, namely luan tao and li chi 理氣(理氣兼顧).  This is especially true under the Xuan Kong Flying Star feng shui.

Unfortunately, the importance of luan tao is always ignored or not mentioned in most of the feng shui books and web pages by the so-called feng shui masters!

Therefore, I want to discuss here some important types of inauspicious luan tao (sha chi 煞氣) that will affect the feng shui (chi pattern) of the house. I also want to point out that the effects of the luan tao are more pronounced when it is facing the entrance door or bedrooms’ windows (which are referred as “mouth of chi” in feng shui) of a house/apartment. In this article, I want to concentrate on the external luan tao:

1. sky chopping sha (天斬煞) – the house is facing a narrow vertical gap or space between two buildings; like a sword chopping from the sky to the ground.
- this will cause bone and head problems.

2. yin chi sha (近陰煞) – the house is facing/close to a cemetery or crematorium.
- uncommon yin sickness and decreasing occupants in the house.

3. T-junction road (穿心煞) – the front of the house/building is facing a T-junction road.
- this will cause accidents, lawsuits, hostile relationship and frequent turnover of staffs.

4. hidden arrow sha (暗箭煞) – the road is facing directly at the back of the house.
- the same effects as the T-junction road that we mentioned above and we can apply the same feng shui cure accordingly.

5. entrance door is facing a column (柱阻煞) – this will affect the fortune and reaching aspiring goals.

6. a) entrance door is facing an electrical transformer (磁阻煞)- this will cause unstable wellbeing of the family, accidents and legal disputes.
b) entrance door is facing a high voltage electrical tower (磁波煞) – this will cause the birth of girls only in the household, blood circulation health problems and serious accidents.

7. reversed arrow sha (反弓屋) – the house is built along the inside edge of a curve road. This will cause accidents and arguments.

8. electrical pole close to the front of the building (五黄關煞) – this will cause accidents, dizziness, and operations.

9. building facing a sharp corner/edge from another building (墙角煞) – this will cause accidents, operations and hostility among the occupants.

10. a single dying big tree in front or at the rear of the house (枯絕煞) – this may cause suicide, misfortune, and continuous illness.

11. big trees in the front/rear yards covering or blocking sunlight from the house (招陰煞) – this will cause pain in bones and weak body.

12. the house is facing the pointed roof of a temple (三川煞) – this will cause accidents and arguments.

13. the house is facing an unfinished building where further works stop/abounded after the completion of the structure (洞窟煞) – this will cause suicide, prolong weak body, accidents, and negative thinking.

14. the front or both sides of the house are facing slanted roof of other buildings (射脋煞) – this will cause chest and neck problems, accidents and legal disputes.

15. the back of the house is facing a temple (陰廟煞) – this will cause low spirits, taking medicine often and female dominance in the household.

16. broken walls around the house (刀鋸煞) – this will cause accidents and gossips or villain attack.

17. flyover- sickle knife sha (天橋鐮刀煞) – when the building is facing the outside curve of a flyover, this will likely cause serious accidents, conflicts and legal disputes and loss of fortune. This scenario is more common in the city.

18. light sha (光煞) – this is referring to the scenario that the head light of the vehicles is shining into the house or there is bright light like neon advertising signs facing the house. This will likely cause accidents to the occupants.

After reading the above inauspicious luan tao, some readers will wonder what is the appropriate feng shui remedies accordingly. Before I go any further, I want to point out that even when a house/building is facing either one of the above sha chi, it doesn’t mean that the occupants will be subjected to the problems no matter what; because its effects will depend on the li chi (flying star combinations) on the sector that is facing the luan tao. For example, it will have a lesser effect when the particular sector of the house has an auspicious timely flying star combinations. Another important thing to remember is even though that the sector of the house has an inauspicious flying star combinations, “bad” things normally happen when it is triggered by the inauspicious annual/monthly/daily flying stars, especially the number 2 and number 5 earth star. If my readers are interested in this topic, they are welcome to read the following article: http://netgent1-creativelife.blogspot.ca/2012/12/is-this-feng-shui-or-accident_12.html

Finally, let us go back to the discussion of how to apply the appropriate feng shui cure for the above-captioned luan tao sha chi. In general, these are some of the effective feng shui remedies that we can apply:

- place a pair of lions (outside of the house), a pair of metal Chi Lin (inside of the house or on the  window sill),

- hang a wood Chinese Lo Pan (compass) facing the luan tao,

- place green plants facing the luan tao

In authentic Chinese feng shui, there is a saying that “if you do not see it, then it is not a sha chi (眼看不見不為煞)", thus, by installed heavy curtains, blinds or shutters on the windows are also some effective feng shui measures that we can apply in these kinds of applications.

Lastly, one important thing that I want to point out is the effect of the external "luan tao" will be measured by the following factors: dimensions, shapes, and distances between the house. Apple's new Campus 2's feng shui analysis

Recently I have read a few entertaining articles regarding feng shui analysis and prediction for the Apple's Campus 2 in Cupertino, California. If my readers are interested in these materials, listed below are the links to the articles:

http://kenlaifengshui.blogspot.ca/2011/06/steve-jobs-new-campus-is-it-good-for.html

http://fengshuibyfishgirl.com/tag/circular-buildings/

http://proshatlehmann.com/is-apples-future-headquarter-feng-shui-proved/

One thing I want to remind my readers is we need to read the above articles with some reserve because one of the authors wrongly identified a circle building (metal element) is a yin chi building! In order to straighten things out, I want to offer a few cents of my personal observations regarding the feng shui of this new Campus 2 complex accordingly.

First of all, my initial impression of this so-called "spaceship" design is that without the doubt this is quite an innovative and sleek design. It has been praised by many critics in the architectural profession. On the other hand, it also received unfavorable comments from some skeptical minds: " bloggers and some readers of the newspaper like the Wall Street Journal, wonder if this spaceship campus spells the beginning of the end of the Apple empire."

Personally, I believe when a building is designed as an artistic, architectural landmark, or a headquarter for an ambitious corporation; no matter what are the conceptions or "grand" structural design theories that justified the architect's design of the building, he/she shall consider the real life (feng shui) effects imposed on the occupants or end users of the building. I have read that the architect was inspired by the idea of a London square, where houses surround a park; which is much lesser in scale and contrasting in usage/function to the new Campus 2 complex.

So, let us now discuss whether the "spaceship" design of the new Apple's Campus 2 complex is auspicious under the feng shui theories:

1. To someone who follows the authentic Chinese feng shui (not the so-called Western feng shui) shall know that one of its main objectives is how to contain the wind and gather the chi (藏風聚氣) for a building. However, I really can not see how can this "spaceship" design accomplish this goal. One special design feature that stood out is a massive open landscape area at the center which surely has difficulties retaining the chi; because we all know that chi will be scattered by the wind in an open field (氣乘風則散). Furthermore, the shallow depth of the building and full glass design on both ends will allow the positive chi or sheng chi (生氣) to escape directly out from the building before it has the chance of meandering through the building complex. In addition to the fact that under feng shui logic, the chi will be dispersed by a circular building.

2. Under the Xuan Kong Flying Star feng shui, round-shape structures are associated with the number 6 metal star (六白武曲星) which represent yang energy. It is continuously in motion. Accordingly, it will create a dynamic moving chi pattern inside the Campus 2 complex. In some respects, this might well suit Apple's ambitious business goal of continually delivering new models of iPhone to beat the competitions and pleased the shareholders (who many are not happy about the ballooned construction cost of the new Campus 2 from less than $3 billion to almost $5 billion).  Unfortunately, this is probably not desirable for the intensive design and research activities in developing new iPhone and operating software because this process requires a yin energy or quiet and controllable working environment.

This imbalanced state of yin/yang chi field fit perfectly into the inauspicious scenario stipulated in one of the classical Chinese feng shui texts, xue xin fu (雪心賦): "things will not bear in yang only conditions, and it will not grow in yin only conditions" (孤陽不生,獨陰不長)! So, just maybe we will start to see some set back from Apple in launching new products and services?

3. In addition to the above captioned, I have noticed that there are more than seven (7) entry points or mouth of chi (氣口) in the "spaceship" design. In essence, this will further enhance the fluctuation of the chi pattern inside the new Campus 2 complex. This phenomenon causes an "impure interaction" of the five elements because the element of metal, wood, water, fire, and earth are being mixed up in a dynamic chi environment and will render an unsettled chi field (氣雜). This is not suitable for those employees with weak mind and body(身弱); as they will feel confused or even get sick in these kinds of working conditions.

One can also imagine the operating challenges of 13,000 employees, various departments and special project teams of the company working together in one confined office complex! In short, the new Campus 2 is probably not a "fun" place to work as envisioned by Steve Jobs in his presentation to the city officials during the planning stage of the project. On the other hand, this might be what Apple intends to do all along, i.e., to keep everything in-house as top secrets, who knows?

4. The round-shape design represents the luan tao which is referred as reversed hand sha (反手砂) in feng shui. This will likely cause an outflow of skilled workers, internal personnel issues or layoff, and loss of business opportunities.

5. The "spaceship" design is also missing the center palace (中宮) because this is occupied by the extensive open landscape area at the center of the site. In feng shui, the center palace of the ba gua is occupied by the dominant number 5 earth star ( 五黃廉貞星); which is the ruler/leader who controls the other eight ba gua sectors. Simply put, this implies that Apple will miss having a masterful leader like Steve Jobs to lead the corporation after moving into the new Campus 2 complex.

6. There is a provision of extensive underground parking facilities underneath the complex which is not auspicious in feng shui as this is referred as "ground moving building" (地動屋) which might cause health problems and misfortune. I have encountered many first-hand experiences that when a living/working place is sitting on top of the underground parking, the magnetic field at the area tends to fluctuate wildly and become not stable, possibly caused by the movement of the vehicles and the mechanical equipment in the parking facilities.

7. From the artist's picture, we can see that the massive scale (3.1 million square feet) and modern design of the new Campus 2 are entirely not in line or blend into the neighboring landscape which Steve Jobs hopes to reflect the California landscapes from his childhood! In feng shui terms, this means it can not fit in harmoniously with the surrounding environment, resulting in conflicts and possibly lawsuits from others. As a matter of fact, it was reported that the building contractor, Skanska, and DPR were fired from the Campus 2 project in early 2015. Furthermore, people are still not sure about Panasonic's reaction to Apple's new headquarters as their building is located across from the Campus 2' site.

Interestingly enough, there was a report saying that Apple is again facing a potential class-action lawsuit claiming that the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S is made unusable- accompanied by an "Error 53" message- after having them fixed by a third-party repair service provider. This is coupled with another recent class-action lawsuit claiming that Apple engages in planned obsolescence because the company knew of potential compatibility issues when it forced its latest iOS9 software on iPhone 4S owner.

In light of the above, I do not think this is a coincidence but rather a steady rising trend of lawsuits ever since Apple started the construction work of the new Campus 2 complex. Go figure!

Updated note (Feb 2016):

It is reported that Apple is fighting another legal battle with the Justice Department (FBI) over helping with the San Bernardino, Calif., terrorism investigation; regarding Apple’s defying U.S. Magistrate Judge Sherri Pym’s order recently to help FBI open Syed Rizwan Farook’s encrypted iPhone.

8. Lastly, another important observation is that the round-shape design of the new Campus 2 complex resembles a sickle knife, this is referred as sickle knife sha (鐮刀煞) in luan tao feng shui, which will have adverse effects like health problems and accidents to the occupants of the surrounding buildings and houses. For example, if it is facing at the homes with SE exposure, the occupants of those houses will likely suffer from liver's problems, because metal chops wood and SE ba gua (wood element) is associated with the liver in human body; most likely affecting the eldest daughter or female members in the family between 31 to 45 years old.

Since we are on this topic, I also want to point out that the extensive construction works of the Campus 2 complex will also cause adverse effects to the surrounding buildings and houses. In feng shui theories, a construction site is referred as the inauspicious earth element sha chi (土形煞), and its ill effects will be enhanced by the activities, and heavy construction works from the new Campus 2's site; which will likely cause intestinal, stomach, muscle and bone problems. If this holds true, I predict that we will start to see complaints of health issues from the people living in the surrounding houses pretty soon!

So, after reading the above feng shui issues regarding the Campus 2 complex, one will ask are there any feng shui remedies to rectify these problems? The answer is "yes," as I already have some ideas in mind, but certainly not the kinds of feng shui cure like moving furniture around; making changes to the interior decor or hanging ba gua mirrors here and there that you will find in many websites!

With joking aside, I can say that this is a far more intricate and complicated endeavor than performing feng shui analysis of a regular house. It will require an in-depth feng shui study of the floor plans and its functions, i.e., feng shui analysis of the li chi (理氣) or chi pattern inside the building in a relationship with the luan tao (巒頭) factors we have discussed above. In retrospect, if feng shui wisdom were being considered at the beginning of the planning stage of the project, Campus 2 complex may well become an innovative and feng shui enhanced HD for Apple.

To conclude, unless the above feng shui problems and its effects are making a serious impact and have caught the attention of some interested parties, this will most likely be treated as another "interesting" feng shui read for many people. Therefore, I am not going to discuss the solutions here.

Note: I will assist those people who believed the feng shui of their house are being affected by the construction of the new Apple Campus 2 complex by sending the request to the following email address; xuaankongfengshui123@gmail.com.

In the meantime, I will advise any of my readers who owned Apple's stocks need to start monitoring its performance just in case!

Updated note: (April 2016)

As per the Associated Press, Apple shares fell Tuesday (April 26) after the company reported second-quarter earnings that missed both revenue and profit expectations on the first-ever drop in iPhone sales.

September 2016 - The European Union’s antitrust body has slapped a fine on Apple worth up to €13 billion ($14.5 billion), plus interest, following a three-year investigation into the corporation’s sweetheart tax pact with the Irish government.

Furniture and its relationship with the Five Elements in feng shui

After some laugh at the above cartoon in the Toronto Star dated 2/5 /2016, I am going to discuss about the furniture/objects in our homes and its relationship with the five elements. I believe this info will help my readers to arrange the furniture and objects in such a way that it will create a good feng shui environment in their homes, without having to buy those expensive DIY feng shui books!

Before I go any further, I want to reiterate that feng shui has nothing to do with interior design as advocated by many so-called Western feng shui masters. Under the authentic Chinese feng shui, furniture is referred as “luan tao”, and its feng shui’s effect is based on their shapes, materials and colors in relationship with the five elements as indicated by the following examples:

- Metal element – metal clocks, piano, music box, coins, metal chairs and tables, jewelry, mirror and refrigerator. Its colors are gold, silver and grey.

- Wood element – bookcase, wood furniture, magazine rack, wood musical instruments and wood carvings. Its colors are green, dark green and light brown.

- Water element – fish tanks, washing machine, and water bed. Its colors are blue and black.

- Earth element – flower vase, ceramics, pottery and gem stones. Its colors are deep brown and yellow.

- Fire element – kitchen stove, plastic furniture, artificial flowers, light fixtures, television, dryer and heater. Its colors are red, purple and orange.

After understanding the element of the furniture and objects, the second concepts that we need to know is the elements of the eight ba gua’s sectors:

- East is wood element, it represents rising sun, growth. Under the Xuan Kong Flying Star feng shui, it represents the number 3 wood star which implies conflicts and arguments.

- South East is also wood element, it represents scholars luck

- South is fire element, it represents happiness

- West is metal element, it represents destruction, not good for health

- SW is earth element, under the Xuan Kong Flying Star feng shui, it represents the number 2 earth star which implies sluggish in work

- West is metal element, it represents strong and eager to make progress

- North is water element, it represents career luck

- NE is strong earth element, it represents wealth luck

Thus, by combining the above two concepts, we can enhance our luck or reduce some unlucky effects by applying the destruction and growth cycles of the five elements. For instance, the living/dining room is the gathering place of the family, we can place fire element’s furniture at the South sector; earth element furniture at the NE to enhance the wealth luck; water element objects at the North to enhance the career luck etc.

In the childrens' bedroom, we can place the studying desk, bookcase, school bag at the SE sector to enhance the scholar luck. If the child has lung issues, we can place earth element furniture/objects at the West sector.

In the master bedroom, we can place the jewelry box at wealth sector which is NE. If we want to enhance the relationship between husband and wife, we can place fire element objects at the South sector of the master bedroom. If there are frequent arguments, quarrels between husband and wife, we can place fire element furniture/objects at the East to dissipate the wood chi.

All the above remedies are based on the “luan tao”, i.e. the physical arrangement/placement of furniture/objects in the house and its effects in feng shui. However, we must also consider the effects of the “li chi”, i.e. the flying stars’ combinations or the chi pattern inside the house, in order to achieve a specific feng shui goal.

For instance, if we want to enhance our romance luck, we can place the appropriate objects at the sectors based on the Xuan Kong Flying Star feng shui’s ideas. For a guy, he can place magazine or books at the SE which is associated with the number 4; pink color objects at the South which is associated with the number 9; metal element objects like musical box at the West which is associated with the number 7 (dui kua) which represents young girl.

On the other hand, if a girl is looking for romance luck, she can place water element objects at the North which is associated with the number 1 (kan kua), wood element objects at the SE which is associated with the number 3 (sun kua); and ceramics at the NE which is associated with the number 8 (ken kua) which represents young man.
